Women Honor Valor 2010
To The Women of South Carolina 2010:
The Heroes are coming! South Carolina is known for gracious hospitality. Next October, 2010, we have
the distinct privilege to welcome America’s Greatest Heroes—the 94 recipients of the country’s highest
military award, the Congressional Medal of Honor. Sponsored by the SC State Guard and The Citadel,
this gathering is called Beyond Valor and will be in Charleston. We need to help make this a meaningful
and memorable experience for these great Americans and, to make it, as well, a magnificent learning
experience for each of us, our children, and posterity.
“V” is for Valor which is what made America the greatest nation on the face of the earth and gave
birth to our flag in the American Revolution. (To God Be The Glory).
“V” is for Victory which made and keeps us Americans (Ever consider the alternative?) and
“V” is for Values the heart and soul of our lives~ based upon trust, loyalty, faith, respect
for each other, and our love of country.
We always have with us, our symbol, on both hands, connected forever to our hearts and minds. “V”
Because everyone cannot be in Charleston, the SC Women of 2010 can most definitely get excited about
our Heroes coming and, creatively, be a part of this extraordinary South Carolina history. Let us join in
sending our warmest personal regards in the form of a Declaration of Gratitude .. Contact your circles of
friends, associates, mothers, daughters, co-workers to sign the Declaration. Also, take photographs of
groups to send to us for a collage of “smiling faces” to scroll across a giant screen as they hear “The Stars
and Stripes Forever.” A copy of The Declaration will be presented to each Hero with a long-stemmed red
rose, and, for perpetuity, the document will be given to the MOH Museum on the USS Yorktown and to the
SC Archives and the South Caroliniana Library.
Let us come together for a patriotic, historic experience honoring South Carolina’s own recipients, a
luncheon on January 20th at Columbia’s Convention Center, and to learn more details of Beyond Valor, to
hear for yourselves, and to greet South Carolina’s own Medal of Honor Recipients. Bring a car full, or lead a
parade! We have tried to give this the greatest possible meaning, something money can’t buy, but make
it affordable for every South Carolina Woman. Thus, the cost of the lunch is $20, to place a name on the
Declaration will be $10 per name, and $10 for each photograph of a group.. (20 10) If this is too much,
send what you can, and if you would like to send a greater donation, it would be appreciated. A table will be
available for $1000 with recognition in the program. There will be corporate tables, too. We could offer the
$2500 sponsors two tickets to the Patriots Dinner in Charleston and have them listed in the 2010
Convention Program book to be filed with the Library of Congress. A marvelous book about our Heroes will
be available, signed and autographed for $50.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to (Retired) Chief of Staff of the SC State Guard, Brigadier General
Eugene F. Rogers USMC WWII Veteran, for leading the gigantic effort to bring this patriotic and historic
occasion to us. General Rogers is a dedicated American patriot of “The Greatest Generation.”
Time is fleeting. Make your reservations today. The Women of South Carolina 2010 are patriotic
Americans and proud that South Carolina gave birth to the nation. Our hearts, resounding in unison, beat
triumphantly for love of our country ~ Let us not forget woman’s greatest VIRTUE, “I’ll do it if it is the last
thing I do!” ~South Carolina Women Honor Valor.
Very truly,

becomes necessary for us to stand together to evaluate what we hold near and dear to us and to our
posterity~~South Carolina Women Honor Valor. Our hearts beat triumphantly in unison, as we offer our
gratitude to you, America’s Greatest Heroes, knowing full well, it is because of you, and your compatriots,
guided by Divine Providence, that we have so long lived in this free country in safety and security, yet with
undying and eternal hope for peace on Earth. You exemplify the qualities of character, trust, honor, integrity,
fidelity, the courage, the bravery , every American citizen respects admires and aspires to; To you, our debt
of gratitude is too great to be expressed in thought, word or deed, or gift; it is awesome, but you may be
